Phil and Julia moved to East Craighill, a former croft near Turriff,
Aberdeenshire in 2004 and began converting the farm steading to
holiday let 4 years later. A labour of love, this has taken more
than a year to complete to their satisfaction. They now enjoy the
laid back lifestyle which typifies the rural idyll in this part of
Grampian, yet is just 2 miles from the old market town of Turriff –
itself the heart of the farming community in north Aberdeenshire.
They acquired five rare breed Castlemilk ewes and a Soay ram in 2007
and the croft now boasts a small flock together with two goats, a
number of chickens – which ensure a ready supply of fresh free range
eggs, a few of which normally form part of the Craighill Croft
welcome pack.
The croft comprises about 10 acres, mostly laid to grass which
grazes (currently) two highland ponies and one Irish Cob. These,
with the stables, are managed (with passion) by Julia, who has owned
horses over many years, she welcomes riders and offers livery for
your mount. There is also around an acre of private woodland
offering track riding and an outdoor school. Off road hacking is
available around the nearby loch.
Phil and Julia invite you to share the idyll. Perfect for riding,
walking, hiking, biking, golfing, fishing, or the romantic getaway.
